Cancer, known medically as malignant neoplasm or malignant tumor, is a disease caused by abnormal cells which grow in an uncontrolled way. If left untreated, the tumor can spread into normal tissues or lymph nodes nearby or more distant parts of the body (like lung, brain or bone) through the lymphatic system or bloodstream. Please note that not all tumors are cancerous. Benign tumors do not grow uncontrollably, do not invade neighboring tissues, and do not spread throughout the body.

Cancer is the top killer disease in most parts of the world. There are over 200 different known cancers that afflict humans. With the advance in scientific research, many cancers are now known to contain various subtypes. This finding triggers the recent development of personalized therapy in which target therapy against each subtype is used.
